Kingdom of Kindergarten~writing
We packed a lot of learning into our two days (so far) in the Kingdom of Kindergarten. The children arrived in class to find princess and prince nametags on the tables, gold coins in a crystal dish for sorting and counting, many topical books on the reading table, and crowns waiting to be crafted.
Our first journal page covered the subject of ruling as a king or queen. I encouraged the children to write words that would complete the headline sentence. We looked for appropriate words in texts around the room.
Waddling Penguins~writing
We enjoyed learning about penguins and polar bears! During social studies, we wrote a chart which listed things penguins can do and things they cannot do. We huddled together for warmth, just like the penguins do during a storm. Being on the inside was a cozier spot than standing on the outside of the huddle. Penguins are team players; they rotate in and out, to give everyone a turn. We can relate!
The penguins will come home soon....they are waiting for eggs. The daddy penguins will, of course, be balancing the eggs on their feet!
