Heart Math, Shiny Pennies, Our 1st President

We are working on sharpening our estimation skills.
We all measured between 11 & 1/2 to 13 hearts tall!
After measuring ourselves, we checked out the heights of a few animal pals.

We hypothesized that Coke would remove the grime from a penny.
Each child was given a tiny cup, dirty penny, and splash of Coke.
WOW!  We saw very shiny pennies at the end of the day.
Then, we wondered if diet Coke would work as well as the original version.
Hhhmmm.....

Do you recognize George Washington?
In these pictures, he hasn't yet received his cotton ball hair!
I think the children did an amazing job of capturing the correct size
and placement of facial features in a portrait!

January Recap ~ Photos!

Martin Luther King Day
Brown and white eggs may look slightly different on the outside,
but they are the same on the inside.
When we mixed them together,
we couldn't separate them again!
We are grateful to Dr. King for his bravery
and commitment to joining our nation.
Romans 12:10
"Be devoted to one another in brotherly love.
Honor others more than yourselves."

We can add ten to a number rolled on a dot cube!
Art Lesson ~ Dragons Salt Painting
We began a study of outer space!  We charted our schema.
At the end of the unit, we will add more information.
The original meaning of the word "astronaut" is "star sailor".
We learned many things about an astronaut's job!
